12th Activity Intercultural Communication~

 Hello guys, welcome back to my blog.

    This time I will tell you about intercultural communication learning on May 18, 2021. So, at the 14th meeting in this course, We will continue the 8 elements of culture and business practices in the countries we have chosen. I will explain a little bit about the 4 countries that have been presented.


    So, The first presenter was Muhammad Adnan. He presented material about Jamaica. The presenter explained that English is the official language in Jamaica, but the language used as the national language is Jamaican Patois (Jamaican Patois). Jamaican Patois is a dialect of English influenced by the languages ​​of Western and Central African countries. Jamaica is a small island, internationally known for its music, and nowadays, for the prowess of its athletes. According to the 2001 census, religion in Jamaica was 66% Christian. In Jamaica there is a law that establishes freedom of religion and prohibits religious discrimination.


    The second presenter was Widyaningrum. She presented about Taiwan. The presenter explained that The original inhabitants of Taiwan are Austronesian people, with linguistic and genetic relationships with other Austronesian ethnic groups, such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Madagascar and Oceania. Taiwan is called Foromosa Country. Formosa is the name given in the 16th century by Portuguese sailors who admired the beauty of this island. Sailors who were impressed by its beauty called this island "Ilha Formosa" which means beautiful island.


    The third presenter was Rismawati. She presented about Brunei Darussalam. The presenter explained that Brunei Darussalam is a sovereign country in Southeast Asia which is located next to the northern coast of the island of Borneo which touches the Southern Chinese Sea and its territory is separated into two states in Malaysia, namely Sarawak and Sabah. Absolute monarchy is a style of government in Brunei Darussalam.



    The last presenter in this meeting was Andi Nur Rezky Utari. She presented about East Timor. The presenter explaned that there are 3 people groups in East Timor ;
  1. Usif, namely the aristocratic class
  2. Tob or ordinary people
  3. Ate as a slave
The United States Dollar is the currency used in Timor Leste. The majority of Timor Leste's population is Catholic, and the Catholic Church is the dominant religious institution. The language spoken in East Timor is Tetun.
